35+ - Lots of hard work, but LeBerge is like Cavendish….Jeff, Kyle, and Jonathan gave it their all but it just didn’t work out.
45+ - District Champion – GREGG BETONTE!!! Way to go neighbor! Big thanks to fellow Truckeeite, Bill Owens of the Reno Wheelmen who agreed to help us today and put in some BIG efforts covering moves from the Clover boys and keeping things strung out the last couple of laps. We REALLY appreciate it and won’t forget it. Jess rode the front for 3 of the last 5 laps before Bill took over and even I managed to get my nose in to the wind early in the race (alright, I was really just sniffing Bubba’s ass at 33 mph+….)
50+ A FANTASTIC race. By far the fastest 50+ race I’ve ever seen. Peter and Jonathan (apparently recovered after tasting the pavement yesterday) in a 9 or 10 man break for most of the race with Larry Nolan, M Caldweel, and a few others. Patrick patrolling the front of the pack. Jonathan wound up 2nd to Nolan after ATTACKING him with ½ a lap to go and almost pulling off the upset. Way to demonstrate that you have to risk losing to win!! It didn’t work out this time but the effort was incredible. Having said that, the bridge by both Jonathan and Peter to get into the break in the 1st place was equally as impressive. We were all sitting on the sidelines thinking that we were in trouble when suddenly here come J. Laine sprinting out of strung out pack with Peter following the buy who was trying to get on Jonathan’s wheel. 2 laps later, they were in the break. Bridging to a charging Larry Nolan was the most impressive move of the day. Hats off on a great effort!
